1. Focus - With the information age comes information overload. Many internet marketers jump from one thing to another. I have been guilty of it myself. It is important to see an idea or campaign through from start to finish. It is better to fail quickly and move on than to move slowly and develop an idea to slowly and never see it to completion or miss the opportunity to capitalize on a current trend. Focus on your ideas take action towards your goals. Most of us strive for perfection to the point we never achieve or goals to our own satisfaction. So, even if it is not perfect, don't be scared to put it on the market.

2. Believe - You must believe in your idea and yourself or you will not make decisions to achieve you goals. People who believe in something are willing to take the chance. They don't let the voice of doubt talk the out of taking action towards their goals.

3. Take action that lead to bigger long term gain - Many of us want quick results and get mass controlled into taking quick action, hoping to get that magic bullet. This is not the way businesses that survive long term run. It is important to write down clear goals, take focused action, and learn quickly from mistakes. But it is extremely important to have a long term business plan. Don't take action for the short term but rather for long term gain.

 

Local Mobile Monopoly - Become The Local Expert

There is no doubt the mobile industry is on fire. Everyone is getting a cellphone, not to mention a smart, internet ready cellphone. The capabilities of cellphones in just the last five years have grown at an amazing rate.

Discovery channel recently did a special on where we are today, compared to the science fiction futureistic views of movies and TV shows from 20+ years ago. What is interesting is that in almost every case, we are nowhere close to acheiving some of those futuristic technologies that we were all hoping for. You know, flying cars, space travel across the universe, and teleporting from one place to another in an instant.

These futuristic ideas were burned into our imaginations. The reality is that most of those technologies are so out of reach that it may be hundreds of years before technology exist to even attemept it.

What was even more interesting is that communication devices have exceeded all the imaginary views. Back in 1997, I had taken my first hand held computer and paired it using a special cable to try and achieve a windows wirless device. It was pretty cool then, but so slow that it did not function well enough to achieve anything productive.

That is not the case anymore! Now days the cellphone, camera, gps enaled, application rich, devices are changing the way we live, communicate, share ideas around the world. It is truely the age of voice. Just think about it, we each communicate in ways that were beyond our dreams 20 years ago.

Obviously, this is also changing the way we market to people. Studies are showing that mobile marketing is getting a much higher response than almost everything else right now. Specifically, text messaging is getting as much as a 90% response.

Now is the time to take advantage of this trend. Text messaging will not work well for every market. But, there are some that markets that get  excellent result from this form of marketing/communication with customers.

Here is an example of the potential:

Let's say you are a resturaunt owner. You have decided to give text marketing a try. You create an offer to entice your customers to join your text marketing list. This can be done by offering a discount to join. This is achieved by saying something like, save 10% by texting "specialoffer" to "12345" or some other CSC (that stands for short code). When the customer send the text, the optin to your mobile marketing list.

So, let say the list is built up to a few hundread customers that love eat at your resturant.  You know that every Wednesday is really slow and you would like to get more business during that time. So, you send your customers a text telling them that they can get a 10% off Wednesday night only.

Beacause you get a 90% open rate, customers feel special and decide to join you for dinner. That is instant on demand marketing. You couldn't do that with a print flyer and it surely would not feel as personal.

I really believe it is the latest, easiest way to get a quick response to a new offer. The best part is that it really is easy to do.
